I don’t need to tell you that in any vehicle every small part does matter. And if you want to improve the performance of the engine, you need to make some efforts to achieve it. Engine tuning is one of them. In fact, I’ve already written about Best tunes for Ford V10. That review is about my top of t V10 tuners and other useful information related to the topic.

NGK V-Power

Perfect quality for an affordable price!

These NGK V-Power spark plugs are a good buy. You will get a high-quality product which not only sorts out harmful misfires, but improves general performance of the engine. And last but not the least, you would also notice increased fuel economy.

However, I firmly believe that a spark plug, among others, is the easiest and the most efficient way to improve the performance of the engine. In general, Ford V10s are known as extremely reliable and cool ones. Basically, it means that they don’t require serious repairs, just routing maintenance from time to time. Having said that, the only disadvantage of this engine is bad fuel economy. But I’m sure that the majority of heavy-duty trucks’ owners are well aware of the average fuel consumption figures: 8-10 mpg. Well, these figures shouldn’t scare you away, as there are more pros than cons, trust me!

Below is my review of the most typical spark plugs for Ford 10V. Let’s get started!

Best spark plugs for ford v10

Motorcraft

our-pick
Our rating:
5.0

Most commonly, my clients (V10-engined trucks’ owners) complain about rough idle and misfiring. Well, sometimes the reasons for rough idling could be a cracked PVC hose. I always check it first. If the problem is there, I fix it and forget about spark plug replacement. If the problem remains, I go for a new set of spark plugs.

This Motorcraft platinum spark plug is a good option for any Ford V10 engine. Installation of a new plug can take some of your time (it’s not a 5 minutes job). However, you don’t need any special tools, just basic ones. All plugs come pre-gapped.

These plugs feature high melting point which means that they are resistant to erosion.

Since platinum gets hot faster, any deposits are burnt off better and fouling of the spark plug is prevented. Together all these are leading to a clean spark plug, and, as a consequence, to its higher longevity, smoothly running ignition system and optimal performance of the engine in general.

These Motorcraft plugs are longer than other plugs fitting Ford 10V, and they come with more thread. It means, it’s less likely that the spark plug would blow out.

Before installing these plugs, make sure to use some anti-seize on threads!

Key features:

  • good anti-corrosion properties;
  • high quality;
  • maintenance of optimum engine performance;
  • longevity;
  • self-cleaning action at higher speeds.

Product score:

  • performance (9/10)
  • quality (9/10)

Champion Platinum Power

runner-up
Our rating:
4.0

This single platinum spark plug by Champion is a great option for Ford V10 engines. Probably, they are the best for Ford e350 v10 2004. Trust me, I have sufficient evidence in support.

It’s worth noticing that the spark plug comes with some special features. It has a thin-wire center electrode responsible for better ignitability. V-shaped ground electrode is aimed at sharper spark focus and reduction of quenching.

It’s not that difficult to replace Champion plugs, however, if you come across any problem, please ask for the services of an appropriate certified technician.

The plugs come pre-gapped, however, make sure to double check that the gap is set correctly.

Key features:

  • better ignitability;
  • long-term durability;
  • powerful engine performance;
  • able to maintain stable operational temperature;
  • faster throttle response.

Product score:

  • performance (9/10)
  • quality (9/10)
  • price (7/10)

NGK TR55 V-Power

Our rating:
4.0

I bet you know by now that I’m a NGK fan. I love their stuff, and I give preference to NGK spark plugs over other manufacturers in cases where quality is the same. Though these spark plugs seem to be pretty basic, they have some extremely good features.

The most important is the V-cut shape of the center electrode which allows the closer placement of the plug to a mixture of air and fuel. And, as a result, it leads to higher ignitability and lower voltage requirements.

This nickel tipped spark plug features 5-rib corrugated insulator aimed at preventing flashovers, which means that misfires issue would be sorted out. Moreover, this insulator is designed in such a way that gas leak is completely eliminated.

They are very easy to install and remove due to a special insulator covered with trivalent anti-corrosion metal plating.

Key features:

  • high quality;
  • better ignitability;
  • good anti-corrosion properties;
  • prevention of leakage and misfires;
  • consistent combustion;
  • better heat transfer compared to other spark plugs;
  • lower voltage requirements of the ignition system.

Product score:

  • performance (9/10)
  • quality (8/10)
  • price (9/10)

TOTAL SCORE: 8.6

Pros
  • easy installation
  • reliability
  • OE replacement part
  • fuel economy
  • lower emissions
Cons
  • longevity

Conclusion

As I’ve already said, a good plug will keep up a stellar reputation of Ford v10. I do hope this post would help you to make the right choice and buy proper stuff for your truck.
